Airport project worth Rs. 3,000cr up for grab

The Goa Government, which is setting up a new air‎port at Mopa in the northern parts of the state at an investment of Rs. 3,000cr, is all set to float global tenders for the mega project, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, said explaining that the new airport will be developed on a public private partnership (PPP) basis in which the State's contribution will be restricted to providing land for the project and the airport is likely to become operational in the next three to four years. In this connection, the government is currently awaiting for necessary environmental clearances after which it will acquire about 1,500 acres of which about 60-70% of the land has already been acquired by the State and the remaining portion will be acquired very shortly.
